43 Green Wins CNDA's Outstanding For-Profit Neighborhood Real Estate Project Award

We are thrilled to announce that 43 Green, a joint venture by The Habitat Company and P3 Markets, has been awarded the Outstanding For-Profit Neighborhood Real Estate Project Award at the 30th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards (CNDA). This prestigious award recognizes our commitment to revitalizing Bronzeville’s 43rd Street Corridor and creating equitable housing solutions that benefit the entire community.

43 Green, located at 4308 S. Calumet Ave, is a shining example of how thoughtful development can transform a community. The project is a multi-phase, $200 million Equitable Transit Oriented Development (ETOD) that integrates affordable and market-rate housing with community-oriented retail services, with the goal of creating a vibrant, inclusive neighborhood.

Bronzeville’s 43rd Street Corridor, once the thriving heart of Chicago’s African American community, has faced decades of disinvestment and neglect. However, the community’s resilience and potential have paved the way for a new era of revitalization. 43 Green serves as a catalyst for this transformation, providing a focal point for further investment and development in the area.

From the very beginning, the community’s enthusiasm for 43 Green has been overwhelming. At the initial community meeting in 2020, the project was met with a standing ovation, and the excitement has only grown since then. The development opened with an interest list exceeding 400 people and achieved full occupancy within just four months, demonstrating the strong demand for high-quality, affordable housing in the area.

43 Green’s impact extends beyond its physical footprint. The project has spurred additional investment in the community, including the construction of Phase 2, which is set to open its doors later this year. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has also announced a substantial $10 million investment to enhance the 43rd Street Green Line station. Additionally, complementing the physical development, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is planning streetscaping enhancements for 43rd Street.

The success of 43 Green is a testament to the power of collaboration and community-driven development. We are incredibly proud of our team and partners for their dedication and hard work in bringing this vision to life. This award from CNDA is a recognition of our collective efforts to create a brighter, more equitable future for Bronzeville.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported this project, and we look forward to continuing our work together to build stronger, more vibrant communities.
