Lori Chacos

Lori Chacos has been a member of The Habitat Company team since 2016. As Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Habitat, Lori is responsible for assisting with all company legal matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, and the refinancing of portfolio properties. She also is involved in the development of new market-rate and affordable assets and the legal aspects of property operations and leasing matters within all of Habitat’s business lines.
Before joining Habitat, Lori served as Vice President/Associate General Counsel and Director of Residential Development at Joseph Freed and Associates LLC. During her 13-year tenure there, Lori was responsible for all legal matters associated with the development of the company’s residential mixed-use condominium projects in Illinois, Michigan, Colorado and Wisconsin. She also was responsible for financial transactions involving the company’s commercial shopping center portfolio properties and directed corporate entity maintenance for 100+ entities. Prior to this, Lori dedicated her expertise to condominium development and conversions with Centrum Properties, Inc. and Metropolitan Properties of Chicago, Inc.
Lori earned her Juris Doctorate degree from The De Paul University College of Law, her L.L.M. in real estate law from The John Marshall Law School, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Wittenberg University. She holds a Law License from the State of Illinois and a Real Estate Broker License in the State of Michigan.
