As Vice President of Affordable Housing for The Habitat Company, Shangwé Parker provides leadership and oversight for Habitat's affordable division, consisting of over 2,200 units. In addition to developing support service strategies, Shangwé also strives to drive innovation and best practices across the company.
Shangwé joined Habitat in 2004 and has held a range of leadership roles with Habitat. Shangwé has managed several assets for Habitat and made a name by transforming troubled assets into thriving, desirable communities. Through Shangwé's efforts, the Habitat Company was awarded a CAMME Award from the Chicagoland Apartment Association for Property Excellence.
Other notable interests include his involvement with LINK Unlimited program, designed to provide educational services and mentoring to economically disadvantaged African-American youth in the Chicago area. Shangwé also sits on the Chicago Housing Authority's Owners Resource Council, which helps develop some of CHA's policies that pertain to its administration of the Housing Choice Voucher Program in Chicago.
Shangwé has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Kenyon College and is a licensed Realtor in Illinois. He is also a Tax-Credit Specialist, a Certified Occupancy Specialist, a Certified Manager of Maintenance, and a Site-based Budgeting Specialist.
